Even less known than the Harvest Goddess in Story of Seasons: More Friends of Mineral Town is Kappa. Kappa was a challenge candidate added in for the original game on the Gameboy and made his way back for the remake. Kappa isn’t even mentioned by the villagers and won’t naturally pop up in the game.
In fact, the only real clue you have to his existence comes from the Kappa Stones you will come across in the mines. If you are looking for a challenge and don’t like any of the standard candidates, then you should try for Kappa. Below is everything you need to know to win Kappa’s heart.
10 Find His Lake
First off, you will need to figure out exactly where Kappa is located. This is actually pretty simple as he is simply in the mountain lake near the hot spring and mines. All you need to do is go to the side and throw in an offering.
Kappa is harder to please than the Harvest Goddess, though, so don’t expect to access him from day one.
9 Learn His Birthday
Next, you should make a note of his birthday as this is really the only way to score extra points with Kappa. He won’t reward you for milestones like the Harvest Goddess but will give you a power berry after ten gifts.
Kappas’s birthday is on spring 8th or 9th if you chose the 8th as your birthday.
8 Grow Tons Of Cucumbers
The only way to get Kappa to appear is by offering him cucumbers. There are no other gifts that you can throw into the lake. This means that you get a set amount of points for each cucumber you give to him, and there are no hates.
Be sure to grow enough cucumbers to give to him for a full year so that you don’t miss out on any days.
7 Reach Year 5
Just like with the Harvest Goddess, you must reach year five before you can marry Kappa. If you have ever played the classic for that long, though, then you know year five is when every other candidate starts to marry their rivals.
This will make it so that you have very few marriage options left, which can be incredibly frustrating if you don’t like Kappa.
6 Confess Your Feelings
To marry Kappa, you must go to Carter at the church and confess your intent to marry him. This option will appear randomly and must be done before you can try and give Kappa the blue feather.
Make sure to choose him instead of the Harvest Goddess or another candidate.
5 Complete The Mines
Since he is a challenge candidate, you must complete the mines in order to marry him. To do this, you must get every ore and gem. This also includes the teleport stone, which only appears after you hit the third year.
This is something that you can easily focus on during the winter.
4 Ship All Crops
You will also have to grow and ship off every crop to unlock marrying Kappa. If you crop list isn’t filled in the game, then you won’t be able to marry him. Make sure to grow crops each season and plant fruit trees.
If you continue to grow at least one of every available seed, then this should be an easy goal to reach.
3 Find Kappa Jewels
Kappa Jewels can be found in the lake mine, and there are nine in total. They have a small chance of being found on each floor, and you will need to spend a lot of time mining in the winter if you want to find them all.
Once you have collected all nine, you will need to trade them to Kappa to obtain the Kappa Gem and get closer to marriage.
2 Catch All Fish
Make sure to go ahead and get the fishing rod from Zack at the beginning of the game. You will need to start fishing as the years go buy in order to catch every type of fish. Different species spawn in different places and at different times.
Once you have filled in the fish chart, you will be one step closer to getting Kappa to say he wants to marry you. If you are lucky enough, you may even accidentally fish up Kappa when fishing in the mountain lake.
1 Be Wary Of Winter
Winter is a rough season for Kappa lovers as the lake completely freezes over. This means that you can’t give gifts to Kappa, and he will slowly lose points as the season goes on. It’s incredibly important to have enough cucumbers to start earning points back on the very first day of spring.
Other than Kai, Kappa is the only character that will completely disappear for a season.
