Every Story of Seasons fan knows just how important making days for the mine can be. Mining allows players to collect the ore that’s needed for tool upgrades, as well as rare gems. Upgrades make farming life much easier, and gems are great for turning a huge profit or gaining tons of friendship points with the townsfolk. Learning to maneuver through the mines in each game is an art, especially since Pioneers of Olive Town does things much differently.

There are now three mines to choose from and enemies that will deal additional damage to the player’s stamina while they are trying to harvest ore.

10 Wait Until It’s Going To Rain

Going into the mine is going to take a good portion of your day, especially when you start going to the third and final mine. Players will need to make their way down to at least floor 42 to find the valuable orichalcum. This also means dealing with a lot of Baddies who will constantly try to attack you.

Waiting until it’s raining will have you the extra time and energy you need to mine.

9 Pre-Feed Your Animals

While your crops will be taken care of, animals will still need to be fed. Luckily, you can place food for the next day in the barns and coops before you go to bed. This can be incredibly important for players who have chosen to build multiple barns in order to take care of all the game’s various animals.

It’s also best to stop by on your way back from the mine, if possible, to pet all your farm animals.

8 Cook Stackable Dishes

To ensure that you don’t pass out in the mine, be sure to take tons of dishes with you. You can go to the town grocery store and pick up the ingredients you need to cook up helpful dishes. Try to cook the same dish if possible so that they will stack and won’t take up more room in your inventory.

Keep in mind that in Pioneers of Olive Town, you can’t just buy food to take with you from the café.

7 Empty The Items You Don’t Need

One of the biggest mistakes newer players will make is running into a mine with a full inventory. This just creates an unneeded hassle and can cause you to miss out on valuable items. Be sure to empty out your items the night before you go mining.

You should also place extra tools you don’t need as the water can into the tool bag for extra space.

6 Decide What Materials You Need The Most

Unless you just need a refill on everything, you will want to figure out what types of ore or gems you are looking for. If you just need silver, then you can just go through the second mine. If you need gold, though, you will need to look through the third mine.

Try to make the task difficult by going too deep in the mine, especially if you don’t need orichalcum.

5 Look For Ore Veins

Ore veins are a wonderful resource that gives you tons of ore and even has the potential of giving diamonds. Veins are a great way to get ore fast, without having to take extra time breaking down every rock in your path, and are usually pretty noticeable.

In addition, there are mounds that the player can till with their hoe for ore, treasure, and gems.

4 Avoid Holes When Possible

While holes used to be a wonderful find in previous games with a 100 level mine, this isn’t the case in Pioneers of Olive Town. Holes will often drop you several floors, causing you to miss tons of ore and lose a good chunk of your remaining stamina.

They can appear when mining any rock, so be careful not to step forward while mining.

3 Deal With the Baddies First

If you find a floor with tons of ore you want to gather, you will probably want to deal with the resident Baddie first. Baddies are moles that love to pop up around you and deal damage to your stamina bar, there are three types of baddies, and they get more difficult to deal with in each mine.

This is especially true when you pass floor 31 in the third mine and have to deal with electric Baddies.

2 Stock Up In Winter

Winter has always been a calm season in farming games since crops don’t tend to grow well. Winter is the perfect season for daily ore runs, and with proper planning, you can even have enough ore to get you through the next year without ever having to touch the mine.

Make sure to make the most out of the season and work on your ore reserves.

1 Unlock Stonebreaker Valley

Once you get to level nine in mining, an area called Stonebreaker Valley will become accessible. This valley makes farming Orichalcum much easier, as well as the other types of ore. Keep in mind that the rocks you break will need a few days to respawn before you can harvest them again.

It’s good to time out your visits with peak respawn when possible.
