Today, XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe Limited unveiled the retail editions of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, the upcoming title in the Story of Seasons series. Each company detailed the standard editions and region-specific special editions — the Premium Edition for North American buyers and the Deluxe Edition for European customers.
The standard Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town edition comes in physical and digital versions priced at $49.99, £44.99 or €49.99, depending on region. People who order the European Standard Edition from select retailers will receive “Buffy,” a small plush of the game’s buffalo. At the time of writing, XSEED Games, the Story of Seasons publisher for North American has not mentioned if North Americans who pre-order the standard edition will also get “Buffy.” Considering that pre-orders for previous Story of Seasons games included a bonus plush, it’s not out of the question that North America will have a similar pre-order bonus to Europe for the standard edition.
In North America, fans can choose between the game’s standard edition and a limited Premium Edition bundle. The Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Premium Edition will include the “Buffy” plush and a 13.5-inch by 24-inch cloth poster of the game’s key art in addition to the game. This bundle will have an MSRP of $59.99 compared to the standard edition’s price of $49.99.
Europe’s virtual farmers can get the standard edition of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town or their Europe-only Deluxe Edition bundle. The Deluxe Edition will include the game, an A3 poster with exclusive art, an A5 notebook and 10 training cards featuring the game’s romanceable characters. Europeans will be able to the Deluxe Edition for £54.99 or €59.99.
At the time of writing, neither XSEED Games nor Marvelous Europe Limited have mentioned when fans can pre-order Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. The North American blog post announcing the retail options recommends that anyone interested in pre-ordering the game keep an eye on the official website for more details.
The North American and European versions of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will release shortly after the February 25, 2021 release date in Japan. North Americans can expect the game to come out on March 23, 2021, and Europeans can look forward to a March 26, 2021 launch. The Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town development team stated in a Famitsu feature that they were 80% done with the game in late November, suggesting that it’s on track for these release dates.
Games in the Story of Seasons series continue what Western players knew as the Harvest Moon series until 2015. The previous Story of Seasons game was Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, a remake of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town with quality of life changes.
