Surviving in Stranded Deep requires a specific set of skills — skills your character can improve that will significantly help you to get through the whole game. In Stranded Deep, there are five crafts in all — Hunting, Cooking, Harvesting, Physical, and Craftsmanship. Here’s everything you should know about them.

Hunting Skill

The basics of survival are finding food, water, and shelter. To replenish your hunger, you can eat fruits and vegetables or hunt down creatures for pieces of meat (which you can later cook). There are many animals you can hunt, such as hogs or giant crabs. However, some of them can deal plenty of damage if you don’t know how to handle aggressive creatures. That’s why leveling up your Hunting Skill will be very useful, since the higher level you have, the more powerful your weapons will be.

To get better at hunting, you’ll have to kill living creatures. Any will do, it doesn’t matter if they are in the sea, land, or air.

Cooking Skill

While hunting lets you gather pieces of meat, cooking is what lets you actually consume said pieces. The higher this skill is, the more nutrients you’ll get from cooked food. You’ll have to use a campfire or any of its upgrades for cooking meat, just keep in mind that you’ll have to keep an eye on whatever you’re cooking since it can quickly burn and won’t be of any use. On that same note, cooking time varies depending on meat sizes.

To level up your Cooking Skill, you’ll have to… well, cook food. Still, the cooking level will only rise when you are near the food that you’re cooking, so don’t go wandering off!

Harvesting Skill

During your adventures in Stranded Deep, you’ll come across farmable resources like big rocks or Palm Trees. To gather something from them, you need to hit them with weapons and tools. This can take some time, and the type of weapon you’re using will determine how many strikes you need to completely gather the resource you want. That being said, if you have a high-level Harvesting Skill gathering these materials will require less time.

To increase your Harvesting Skill, all you have to do is start harvesting the resources that are available in the game, like trees, rocks, clays, scrap, and wood.

Physical Skill

Surviving on a tropical island requires a lot of physical activity — you’ll need to be in good condition to run around chasing creatures or building things with your hands. This is why players can increase their Physical Skills. With higher levels comes better stamina and oxygen levels, meaning you can sprint for longer or hold your breath underwater for more time.

If you want to increase your Physical Skill, then swim, run and build structures using a hammer.

Crafting Skill

You won’t be able to get out of your castaway situation if you’re not able to craft a thing or two. That’s why the Crafting Skill allows you to make more items and build more structures. This means that you won’t be able to make certain things until you get to the required Crafting level.

To increase this skill, you’ll have to craft and build things, the more advanced the item you’re crafting, the more experience you’ll get.
