A recent leak from a beta for season 2 of Street Fighter 5 shows new information coming to the game next week including a revamped rage quit punishing system.
It has been a controversial first year for Street Fighter 5, filled with a lot of highs and lows. After launching and disappointing fans with a relative lack of content, updates throughout the year added fan favorite characters like Guile along with a well received story mode campaign. Through it all however, the game managed to perform well enough to garner another season of content including new characters joining the roster. With just five days left before the official kick off of season two for Street Fighter 5, a beta leak from the PC version may have spoiled some upcoming features including a new way to punish rage quitters.
Thanks to screenshots from NeoGAF user Moaradin, fans are getting a potentially early look at some of the big changes coming to season two of Street Fighter 5. If true, the update adds some quality of life features that many players have been asking for. In addition to a UI update, players now have the option to select between the stage or character music for Versus, Training, Ranked and Casual Modes. Not only that, an update to DirectInput now lets players use their preferred controllers with the game instead of needing a Windows compatible controller or a fix in order to use a PS4 Dualshock.
For fans of fighting online, rage quitting has been a consistent problem for the title and so far, there hasn’t been much in the way of punishments to discourage the act. If the leaks are true, season two adds in a new system that will not only reduce League Points, but add temporary matchmaking restrictions as well. Lastly, rage quitters will also have a special icon displayed on their profile warning everyone that they’re a person who frequently disconnects from matches. Alternatively, players who remain in matches regardless of the outcome will also get a special icon, making it easier for players to find other like minded individuals online.
At this time, Capcom has not officially revealed any patch notes, or additional details for the upcoming next season of content. While the changes above are interesting, players should treat them with a grain of salt until verified officially.
