The Streets of Rage beat ’em up series has always worn it professional wrestling influences on its sleeve, having characters perform pro wrestling maneuvers and even featuring a boss fight against an Ultimate Warrior knock-off in the first two games. It appears that Streets of Rage 4 carries on that tradition with an enemy that is very reminiscent of All Elite Wrestling star Orange Cassidy.
Streets of Rage 4 players have noted that an enemy in the game has very similar mannerisms as Orange Cassidy. Cassidy, for the uninitiated, is known for keeping his hands in his pockets during his matches, mainly relying on kicks and diving maneuvers. Similarly, there are enemies in Streets of Rage 4 that keep their hands in their pockets at all times, mirroring Orange Cassidy’s fighting stance in the process.
Whether or not this is an intentional Orange Cassidy reference is up for debate. However, when one considers Streets of Rage’s history with making professional wrestling references, it seems more likely than not that this is an intentional reference on the part of the game developers.
Streets of Rage 4 has earned strong reviews from critics so far, earning an impressive 84 rating on review aggregate site OpenCritic. Anyone still on the fence about trying it out that owns an Xbox One can play Streets of Rage 4 on Xbox Game Pass.
