Some would argue baseball doesn’t see as much representation in video games as sports like football, basketball, or soccer, but baseball games like Metalhead Software’s Super Mega Baseball 3 have been doing what they can to make up for it. The developer announced today that new modes will be coming to the game this Tuesday, September 29.
In a time when Major League Baseball has had to fill empty stadiums with virtual fans, Super Mega Baseball 3’s next big mode, known as Online Leagues, will give players a way to enjoy the game together. According to Metalhead’s press release, it will allow players to create custom cross-platform leagues and play with their friends via an invite code system. The game will also allow players who have only downloaded its demo to join a friend with a full copy, provided their league is set to default rules.
Online Leagues will come with numerous options for customizing a league, including game length, player count, and Ego (difficulty) level. Players will also have the option to choose between playing with Super Mega Baseball 3’s standard teams or their own customized teams, along with matchmaking options that let them choose between casually playing against anyone in their league or queuing up against a specific player.
Rounding off Super Mega Baseball 3’s new features is a revamp of the Watch Mode, which lets players view fully-simulated AI, soon with the addition of an upgraded camera system that will let them watch from more dynamic angles. It should be a good option for those players who want to take a break from Online Leagues.
Super Mega Baseball 3 is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
