The next online tournament in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been announced and it will pit two of the most popular Nintendo series of all time against each other, as the DK crew will be facing off against the best of Dream Land.
The Donkey Kong and Kirby series have been represented in the Super Smash Bros. series since its first entry on the Nintendo 64. Donkey Kong and Kirby both appeared in the first Super Smash Bros. Game and both franchises received new characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, when Diddy Kong, Meta Knight, and King Dedede were added to the game. King K. Rool was one of the most highly-requested characters for years and he finally joined the series in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The Nintendo Europe Twitter account has announced that the next online tournament event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will only include characters from the Donkey Kong and Kirby series. This means that there will only be six playable characters (Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King Dedede, Kirby, King K. Rool, and Meta Knight), and the only potential stages will be 75m, Dream Land, Fountain of Dreams, The Great Cave Offensive, Green Greens, Halberd, Jungle Hijinxs, Jungle Japes, Kongo Falls, Kongo Jungle, and Rumble Falls.
The Series Clash! DK vs Kirby tournament will start on May 1 and will run for three days. The further the player advances, the better quality of Spirit they’ll win.
The Donkey Kong and Kirby series have had a colorful history within the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Meta Knight was considered to be the scourge of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and his dominance in the competitive scene ruined the game for many people. Diddy Kong was considered to be one of the best non-DLC characters in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, while King K. Rool was briefly considered to be overpowered by the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community. It’s almost time for both franchises to prove which one is the dominant force in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competitive scene.
