This tarantula really had it in for one Animal Crossing: New Horizons player.
You can catch tarantulas in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This might come as news to some of you, but they’re worth a lot of bells–8,000 each to be exact, so catching and selling them can be a great way to make some extra cash.
However, catching tarantulas isn’t exactly easy. As everyone knows, tarantulas are venomous spiders that can have a deadly bite. Fortunately, the tarantulas in New Horizons can only knock you out rather than kill or maim you, but that still makes catching them a tricky proposition.
Reddit user jaxxtar had a particularly troublesome arachnid. While trying to sneak up and capture it in her net, the tarantula spotted her and then lunged at her. Since it was late at night, jaxxtar’s reflexes weren’t fast enough to capture the eight-legged beastie in her net, resulting in her getting knocked out.
But this spider was downright malicious. When jaxxtar woke up and left her tent, she was immediately assaulted by the same tarantula.
If you’re having trouble capturing tarantulas, the top comment on this post has some good advice. Sneak in slowly and as soon as you see the tarantula rear up and raise its front legs, stop! This is a threatening stance and is an indicator that if you move any closer, the tarantula will attack. Instead, stay still and wait for the spider to start moving normally. Then you can creep closer until you’re within range to catch it with your net.
