Microsoft may have confirmed when its next-generation consoles, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, will be released, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy to acquire one. There’s even a date for when pre-orders for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will start, but that’s still going to change on a retailer by retailer basis. Except now retailers are starting to confirm their Xbox pre-order plans, too, with Target being the latest example.

Those hoping to get a pre-order in for either the Xbox Series X or the Xbox Series S at Target can now mark a time down on their schedules. Target has officially confirmed that pre-orders will open at 8:00 am PT/10:00 am CST/11:00 am EST on September 22. The consoles will officially be released, as previously confirmed by Microsoft, on Tuesday, November 10. Prospective next-gen Xbox gamers now know when they should start refreshing the official target website.

Target is also confirming the official next-gen Xbox console pricing, not that there was ever any doubt after the announcement was made. The Xbox Series X can be pre-ordered at a price of $499 while the Xbox Series S console can be pre-ordered at a price of $299. Both consoles will include a single controller, though the Series X will feature a black controller and the Series S will feature a white one.

The Target website notifying shoppers of the upcoming Xbox console pre-orders also mentions two new upcoming Xbox accessories. Those being the Xbox Series X controller and its rechargeable battery. Target doesn’t provide dates for when pre-orders will open for these accessories, however. It’s possible that they’ll launch alongside the consoles. It’s also possible that Target won’t be opening pre-orders for them and will instead launch them on November 10.

One other detail that needs to be made clear is that pre-orders for the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S are expected to go extremely fast. Another retailer, Best Buy Canada, also recently confirmed when pre-orders for the next-gen Xbox consoles would go live. Alongside the announcement, the retailer said it expects next-gen Xbox pre-orders to sell out quickly. While Target doesn’t make a similar statement, it’s guaranteed to also be true for the retailer, and every other retailer besides.

Those hoping to buy a new Xbox console for the holiday would be best served to have websites open for multiple retailers on September 22. Start early, because retailers often launch pre-orders earlier than they said they would in order to avoid website crashes. It’s also smart to make sure to have an account previously set up with the retailer, so that it has shipping and payment information prepared. But, when it comes down to it, luck plays the biggest role in securing a pre-order.
