Late last night, Team China announced its much-anticipated roster for the 2019 Overwatch World Cup. Four of the seven-man roster are players for the Chengdu Hunters, an OWL team that has had mild success and is mostly known for its various comps revolving around Wrecking Ball when 3-3 was the dominant meta. Team China doesn’t seem to be holding anything back this year with the majority (save for one) of its players, which come from OWL League teams, such as the Hunters as well as the Hangzhou Spark and Guangzhou Charge.
Leading Team China this year is Guxue, the main tank for Hangzhou Spark. Guxue has asserted his dominance over the majority of the tanks this year in Overwatch League and secured a finalist position for league MVP. He excels with his aggressive Winston play and should help lead China in this year’s Overwatch World Cup. As a finalist for MVP who is helping the Spark to fourth place so far in this year’s OWL standings, Guxue has that X-factor that is needed to bolster Team China into one of the best World Cup teams this year.
The support line for Team China is looking great, too, with Chengdu’s Yveltal and Kyo. They have been a constant this season in the Overwatch League and their synergy will help keep the team topped up.
