Do Not Open is a brand new horror game on the horizon exclusively for PlayStation VR, and its most recent trailer is enough to induce, at the very least, a slight yelp of terror.

The teaser trailer was aired near the end of June as part of the PlayStation Talents Initiative. PlayStation Talents was launched in 2015 by PlayStation Iberia, with the view of promoting the local Spanish video game industry in different ways, from providing training opportunities to prospective developers to showcasing up-and-coming games produced by local studios in Spain.

Do Not Open comes from one such studio by the name of Quasar Interactive - a spinoff of Quasar Dynamics, which is well-known for its expertise in all things XR-related. That bodes well, and from the looks of the trailer fans of horror and VR can definitely afford to start getting excited.

What we know about the game’s story and setting is simply that you play as the tormented Doctor Goreng - a well-known epidemiologist and zoologist - who finds himself in a big ol’ scary house which has “a terrible history behind its walls.” It seems the goal is to discover what happened to his wife and daughter “while there is still time,” which presumably makes reference to the doctor’s ever-depleting sanity and a handful of paranormal phenomena which make doing so a little bit tricky.

Oh and also, there is no save functionality. So we have a terrifying unpredictably-arranged horror game that doesn’t let you save and which takes place in virtual reality. Um, yes please.

A release date for Do Not Open has yet to be revealed, unfortunately, but we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground.
