The developer behind the Pokemon-inspired MMO Temtem has apologized for pushing back the development of future updates, calling the game’s roadmap “outdated.”

Temtem launched in Early Access last year and developer Crema very quickly put together a roadmap of upcoming features coming to the game in the future, including new islands to explore and dozens of new monsters. A month later, the pandemic swept the globe and has derailed Crema’s plans for Temtem. In a post on the game’s website, the developer apologized for the delay to the roadmap’s content.

In the post, Crema explains that it’s had to “twist and change” its plans a number of times over the past year. The developer also explains that it will not publish an updated roadmap to remove some of the pressure on its shoulders. This will apparently allow the developers to deliver the “highest quality content possible” and allow future updates to launch when they’re ready instead of sticking to arbitrary release dates.

However, Crema goes on to clarify that the content in the currently “outdated” roadmap will still be coming to Temtem in the future. There will also be unexpected surprises that will drop in-between content updates to keep the game “fresh between big updates.” Crema also gives players a quick look at the game’s new island called Cipanku, which should be coming to the game towards the end of March/beginning of April.

For those who haven’t heard of Temtem, the game made waves at the beginning of last year for being the Pokemon MMO that everyone wanted, but managed to have some key differences to make it fresh and unique. Heavily inspired by Pokemon, you start out by picking one of three Temtem to go on a journey with. Each Temtem has its own strengths and weaknesses and will be one of two Temtem that you’ll use in the game’s standard battle formula, which focuses on double battles rather than single ones.

If you’re someone who’s been looking to get into Temtem at some point, now would be the perfect time to jump in. The game’s price will only steadily increase the more content is added, so if you purchase the game now you’ll get all those promised future updates for free. Temtem is available on PC and is currently a console exclusive for PS5.
