The Goblin Tinkerer is an NPC that arrived with the Terraria patch 1.1. This captive vendor sells a variety of special items and bestows the player with the ability to ‘Reforge’ once they find and rescue him. Because of these unique perks, the Goblin Tinkerer is highly sought out and incidentally requires players to overcome a few hurdles in order to gain access.
Locating the Goblin Tinkerer
The Goblin Tinkerer can be found bound-up nearly anywhere within the player’s world. That being said, there are a handful of hotspots players should search first, including the Dungeon, Underworld, Underground, and the Underground Jungle.
Most players have had the best luck locating the Goblin Tinkerer within the Dungeon. This is likely because of the Dungeon’s open-landscape being one of the easier ones to traverse.
Goblin Tinkerer Criteria
Before the Goblin Tinkerer can be found, players must have defeated a Goblin Army within the currently active world. The simplest way to accomplish this is by summoning a Goblin Battle Standard.
There is a set of prerequisites for a Goblin Battle to commence. So if you’re having issues getting one to spawn, check the criteria below.
- Goblin Armies only spawn in the daytime. The player must have destroyed a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart. At least one active player must have a minimum of 200 health. There may not be another currently ongoing Goblin Invasion.
The Goblin Tinkerer’s Shop
Once the Goblin Tinkerer has been located, players must untie him by right-clicking on the NPC. By freeing him, players will now be able to access the Goblin Tinkerer’s specialized wares, and the reforge option.
Please note, the game’s Autopause setting needs to be turned off. Players can find the toggle for this in the game settings. If Autopause is on, players will have issues right-clicking on the Goblin Tinkerer to purchase the various items and activate the reforge option.
Below is a list of the Goblin Tinkerer’s available wares once all prerequisites have been met, and the vendor successfully unbound.
- Spikey Ball: 80 Copper Ruler: 1 Gold Grappling Hook: 2 Gold Rocket Boots: 5 Gold Tool Belt: 10 Gold Tinkerer’s Workshop: 10 Gold
That is everything players will need to know about how to locate and unlock the Goblin Tinkerer. The developers just launched Terraria’s final content update, Journey’s End, so go check it out. Terraria is available on PC, iOS, Android, Playstation 4, Xbox, One, and the Nintendo Switch.
