While The Sims series has had a number of spinoffs, The Sims Bustin’ Out has held a special place in fans heart. Released for a variety of consoles and handheld devices, including the infamous N-Gage, it performed fairly well and was well received by fans and critics alike.

To this day there are still people who dive back into this title to amass a fortune, evict the wealthy resident Malcolm Landgraab from his own mansion, and take his place. Given the differences the game has from previous titles, the occasionally tough objectives, and the various corporate and social ladders to climb to obtain wealth, these cheats for the Playstation 2 were considered incredibly useful.

10 Cheat Gnome

In order to begin cheating in Sims Bustin’ Out you need to first activate the Cheat Gnome. Entering the code R2, L1, R1, L2, Left, Circle will cause a Gnome to appear outside of your house. This gnome will for the most part remain outside your home, but don’t be alarmed if it disappears every now and then it’ll always come back eventually.

Whenever you enter cheat codes you can visit the gnome and talking with him will reward you with whatever the cheat code was for. Before you enter any cheat you must have him present in your game for them to take effect.

9 Team Photos

This cheat isn’t very useful in terms of gameplay, but is a fun easter egg once you’ve beaten the game. Entering the code L3, R3, R1, R2 and speaking to the gnome will cause the game menu and/or the end credits to include a picture of the development team responsible for creating Sims Bustin’ Out.

It wont benefit your character in any way or make the game easier, it’s simply an aesthetical change. While it doesn’t rank high in terms of usefulness it is neat to see the men and women responsible for this entertaining game.

8 Skins

Entering the code L1, R2, X, Circle, Up, Down will unlock all ‘skins’ in the game, meaning you’ll have access to all the clothes, hairstyles, etc. After using this cheat you’ll be able to alter your sims’ outfit and appearance without having to unlock those items over the course of the game.

It’s not terribly useful, although it can be handy for taking your mind off the unlockables. Having these options unlocked right away can allow you to better focus on other tasks. It’s also nice to be able to look the way you want at the beginning of the game.

7 Skip Work Now And Then

This one is more of an exploit than a cheat but can be really handy if you need to raise your social motive and want to take off time away from work to do so. Whenever you spend the night at Mom’s house the bus wont show up and you’ll essentially take the day off.

The reason this doesn’t sit higher on the list is because if you do this too many times you’ll get fired. But it can be a nice way to dodge your professional responsibilities to free up some time and get other things done.

6 Objects

After using the code L2, R2, Up, Triangle, L3, you’ll have immediate access to every object in the game. This can be really useful as it enables you to acquire items that improve your mood like TVs or better furniture and gives you access to the powerful Aromasters that can top off your energy and fun meters while you sleep.

This reason this ranks lower than other cheats is that while it unlocks all of the items in the game you still have to buy these things. If you’re just starting out with an entry level job and a handful of pocket change you wont be able to buy or use anything.

5 Social Options

Social Options are needed to perform certain tasks and establish better relationships with those around you. Normally unlocking these options takes time and requires you to complete certain missions which can hinder your progress.

But with the code L1, R1, Down, X, L3, R3 you can gain instant access to all of those options right away. This is a tremendous help for building relationships and progressing the game quickly. You’ll still have a lot to do of course, but this speeds things along considerably.

4 Locations

There are a variety of locations for your sim to unlock and visit with each one providing you a variety of benefits. For instance, Toanes Gym will help a lot if you’re in a physically demanding career path like Paramilitary or Gangster as you can exercise and use equipment to beef your character up.

Plugging the code R2, R3, L3, L2, R1, L1, will give you instant access to all areas of the game. Then you simply need to visit the locations most relevant to your career path and get early access to a bunch of helpful items and sims to network with.

3 Full Motives

Admittedly this cheat removes much of what makes the game fun, but it can be annoying to spend all your time juggling the different motives and still have something dip in the red. Depending on your playstyle keeping Social or Room topped off can be a real pain.

Fortunately, you can use the code L2, R1, Left, Circle, Up, to fill all eight motives over and over again without penalty. Granted whatever caused the drops in the first place will still be around, but your sim won’t be as debilitated while you try to deal with them.

2 Never Get Fired

The exploit to never get fired is incredibly helpful if you find your sim struggling to perform at their job thanks to low motives or if you abused the Mom’s House exploit one too many times. If you’re in danger of getting fired and miss the bus, either intentionally or accidentally, and quickly obtain any other job before your boss calls to lay you off.

Once you’ve secured the new job reach out to your old employer and switch back to your previous job. You won’t lose any skills, the level of promotion you obtained, and you’ll keep your pay.

1 Make It Rain

Hands down the most useful cheat in Sims Bustin’ Out is the code L1, R2, Right, Square, L3 that will deposit $10 thousand simoleans into your account after talking to the gnome. It can be used as many times as you want allowing you to rack up hundreds of thousands of simoleons in very little time.

The reason this is so powerful is that it allows you to buy every object, makes it easier to miss work as you wont take a hit to your pay, buy the best equipment for your career, and buy essential items to jumpstart local businesses.
