When it comes to battle, you can’t go wrong with a high Attack stat Pokémon. This stat influence how much damage a Pokémon can do when it uses a physical move. Keep in mind that there’s a difference between Attack and Special Attack stats; the latter influences the power of special moves.

Giving how crucial Attack is to winning a battle, most trainers will focus on building a Pokémon team with powerful creatures who can deliver a good punch. Sure, you should look up other stats like speed or HP, but when you’re first starting and don’t know much about strategy, having a good offense makes a world of difference. Take a walk down memory lane to remember which Pokémon has the highest Attack in the original games.

10 Mewtwo - 110

Mewtwo is a super-powerful entity that’s almost a legend in the Pokémon franchise. Being the result of years of DNA experimentation, this Pokémon came into life with a lot of powerful Psychic abilities like levitation, telepathy, and mind control.

The idea behinds Mewtwo’s creation was to design the ultimate Pokémon, which explains this creature’s vicious nature. Although it is extremely strong, this Pokémon’s Attack stats are 110, which isn’t bad and places Mewtwo at the very top of this list.

9 Kabutops - 115

Kabutops looks like a killing machine, and with good reason, this Pokémon has sharp scythes instead of arms and can tuck up its limbs to swim extremely fast. With 115 Attack stats, this prehistoric Pokémon can do a fair amount of damage in battle.

Like Aerodactyl, this pokemon comes from another time; Still, the reason why this pokemon is extinct remains unknown. This creature’s natural habitat is the ocean, thought before it went extinct Kabutops were in the process of evolving into a land Pokémon.

8 Hitmonlee - 120

Hitmonlee’s legs are his most distinctive feature as they contract and stretch as if they were industrial springs. This stretchiness gives this Pokémon the ability to deliver better kicks and to kick in succession from any position. This kicking power shows in his 120 Attack stat.

For a while, his signature moves were all kick-based, like Jump Kick, Mega Kick, High Jump Kick, and Rolling Kick.

7 Gyarados - 125

Gyarados is the most common Pokémon used by Pokémon League Champions, understandable since it has a 125 Attack Stat. When you Mega Evolve this Pokémon it has the highest base Attack stat of all Water-type Pokémon.

Even though this Pokémon comes from Magicarp, it becomes a force to be reckoned with after evolving. Gyarados’s fangs are so powerful they can crush stones, and has scales that are stronger than steel.

6 Pinsir - 125

Pinsir is a Bug-type Pokémon exclusive to the blue version of the original games (later on he was added in LeafGreen, Pearl, and Let’s Go, Eevee!). This Pokémon has a base stat of 125 Attack. When it Mega Evolves, Mega Pinsir has the highest Attack stat of all non-Legendary Flying-type Pokémon.

Pinsir’s strength comes from its pincers, which he can use to toss, tear, or crush enemies. Pinsir’s pincers are so relevant to this species that they judge each other based on the thickness and appearance of the pincers (these don’t make him the cutest Bug-Type Pokémon out there though).

5 Rhydon - 130

This Ground and Rock-type Pokémon was the first one ever created. Its appearance looks like a mix between a dino and a rhino, it has a cream-colored horn that’s his most defining feature.

Rhydon is very powerful physically, which explains why it has a base Attack stat of 130. This Pokémon can tear down buildings only using its tail. Rhydon’s horn can pierce through solid rock and even shatter diamonds. Its armor-like body is very powerful too, as it can protect Rhydon from physical attacks and heat.

4 Machamp - 130

In the beta for the original games, this Pokémon name was “Ju-Doh,” a corruption of the fighting style known as judo. When you see Machamp you understand why martial arts were an inspiration for the development team; this Fighting-type Pokémon has four beefy arms ready to hit its enemies with punches and chops coming from all angles.

It comes as no surprise that Machamp has an Attack stat of 130. This Pokémon is also fast, being able to throw five hundred punches a second.

3 Flareon - 130

Flareon is part of the original three Eevee’s evolution, and it’s the one with the highest base Attack stat, 130 to be exact. This Fire-type Pokémon can reach amazingly high temperatures, up to 1.700 degrees Fahrenheit!

Flareon high temperature comes from its internal flame sac. Flareon’s body works by storing and heating inhaled air in its sac, and then it exhales it as fire. This trick comes in handy when this Pokémon feels hungry, as it roasts whatever he wants to eat.

2 Kingler - 130

Kingler is a crab-like Pokémon whose powerful claws have over 10,000 horsepower strength, explaining its 130 Attack stat. Kingler’s main feature is the red pincers on its body, the left one being twice as large as the other one.

This Pokémon has a weakness though, his left claw - which he uses for defense - is so big and bulky Kingler can barely lift it this also causes him to have balance issues.

1 Dragonite - 134

Dragonite is a pseudo-legendary Pokémon with an Attack stat of 134. This Pokémon is as powerful as its speedy. Its wings allow it to fly faster than the speed of sound! To put it into perspective, Dragonite can circle Earth in sixteen hours, to do the same, a person would need to travel at a ground speed of approx 1,556 mph.

Even though this creature is very powerful, it’s kind-hearted, saving humans from drowning and leading lost ships to safety (which is why you can see vessels with figureheads that look like Dragonite).
