With over twenty characters to choose from in a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, it can be tricky to figure out who is good and who is bad. The real problem is that wasting time on a hero that turns out to be terrible can be heartbreaking. The reason being is that not everyone gains experience.
In order for that to happen they have to be one of the four heroes on the battlefield. It’s an incredible grind just to get four good heroes that one likes up to snuff in order to win. Imagine having to test them all out! Well, fear not dear readers because TheGamer has figured out, which characters to avoid so they can get to the good stuff quicker.
10 Drax
Drax is an okay fighter. His twin knives are pretty deadly and because of his size he strikes a good balance between a fast and a strong built character. The thing that holds him back is his generic portfolio.
Yeah he may powerful, but Drax lacks flair on the battlefield. If one only cares about winning then sure, Drax is a fair team member to invest in on, but otherwise, he just isn’t fun to play. There’s other characters who do what he does just significantly better.
9 Iron Man
Iron Man should rightfully be a top tier character. He may not have been as well known outside of the comics prior to the MCU, but because Iron Man kicked it off with a rousing success, he is now a household name.
Shouldn’t that constitute equal footing in the games? One would think so, but Iron Man and almost equally all of the core Avengers are pretty lackluster in this title ranging from okay to downright bad. His punches and beams make him feel like a doll of Iron Man rather than the real deal as they don’t pack much of a wallop.
8 Miles Morales
Of the Spider-Three, including Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, and Miles, he is the weakest of the trio. He just plays too much like Spider-Man, but worse. Look. 2018 was the year of Miles thanks to the amazing duo of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
It would have been great if this trend continued with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, but because he plays too similarly to Peter, but weaker, he is unneeded especially when so many other Marvel heroes are missing.
7 Luke Cage
While Luke Cage doesn’t have a wide assortment of powers compared to a Dr.Strange or even Spider-Man, his unbreakable skin and super strength make him a hell of a fighter in comics. But in this game, he just doesn’t offer much utility.
To us that doesn’t exactly showcase a mighty superhero. While he is decent in boss fights, he suffers against the more common enemies you face throughout the adventure.
6 Daredevil
With his Netflix show being canceled, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen could use a break. He unfortunately does not have that in this game.
He teeters on the verge of middling to bad, but too many other heroes are better than him to really rank Daredevil in the mid-tier zone. His damage output is mediocre, his specials don’t hold a lot of weight behind them, and his reach leaves something to be desired.
5 Rocket And Groot
This one is heartbreaking. Personally, Rocket Raccoon is the best hero in the Guardians and because he is so tied in with Groot, he’s the second-best.
Unfortunately combining them into one hero just doesn’t work. Rocket’s bullets are too high and not accurate enough to hit targets. The heavy attack button is mapped to Groot and he does kick some butt (albeit very slowly), but together they just fall flat. They should have stayed separate like their incarnations in Disney Infinity.
4 Dr. Strange
Dr. Strange should be the best mage type character in the game. He is the Sorcerer Supreme after all so wouldn’t that make sense? He is sadly the worst magical hero.
His normal attacks are weak and slow and on top of that none of his specials are anything spectacular. It’s a real shame because he certainly shows off his skills in cutscenes, but apparently between story beats and regular gameplay, Dr. Strange forgets how to be cool.
3 Falcon
Here is a fun fact that most people probably don’t know about Falcon because the MCU has rightfully ignored this power. Falcon isn’t just like an Iron Man, but with a bird gimmick. He apparently has a psychic link with birds and is able to communicate with them.
Falcon would be good in some sort of flying game, or section of this game that took place in the air. When he is grounded, well, he’s just awkward to maneuver. He looks flashy shooting guns from the sky, but we want somebody we can actually win with too.
2 Captain Marvel
Be it the comics, or the recent films, Captain Marvel is usually represented as a powerhouse. That kind of creates some story conceits much like Superman, but plot holes aside, her overwhelming power should be great for a video game. It should, but Koei Tecmo nerfed her.
To give another Superman analogy, her strength feels like it is being zapped away by Kryptonite. Let’s just say that this Captain Marvel won’t be able to keep up with Thanos in a one on one contest.
1 Elsa Bloodstone
Elsa Bloodstone is a mystery. Most probably have no idea who she is as she hasn’t been represented in the films yet. Heck, she doesn’t even seem to be that popular in the comics. Elsa is basically a monster hunter.
She has super strength and wields a bunch of guns. The problem with this Lara Croft meets Dante wannabe is that her guns lack pizazz. They are just that, guns. Here is a great analogy of how it feels like to play with her. Imagine some random thug shooting the Hulk with a .45 and that is the impact her attacks seem to have on enemies. Need we say more?
