Prepare to put on your boxing gloves as Arcade Archives has expanded their library with another classic game in the form of Super Punch-Out!! Fans of the original 1984 game will be able to add it to their game collection on the Nintendo Switch this week.

In Super Punch-Out!!, players get to control Little Mac as they try to go up in the ranks to become the world champion. Fighting from behind the back, players must knock out their opponents in three minutes to win. To play the game, players can do jabs, hooks, uppercuts, block, dodge, and duck from opponent attacks. The game keeps characters like Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr in the audience like the previous game. The game was given a makeover for the SNES in 1994 even though it retained all the characters with the same look and attacks.

Arcade Archives has been hard at work reproducing all these classic games from the 80s and 90s, so it’s a real treat for fans to get to add Super Punch-Out!! in their classics library. Just like the other titles from the collection, anyone can change the game settings to fit their style, like the game difficulty. Players can also display their high scores to the world and show off their skills in the game.

Just to clarify, this is the arcade version of the game and not the SNES edition. There are some similarities between the two games as it does have the same roster of characters that Little Mac fights against. The game makes full use of the new “Ducking” action from the arcade version to give the feel of being in an actual boxing ring. By using the same dual-screen punching action from the first game, players can now feel like an actual boxer with this maneuver.

Super Punch-Out!! enters a long list of titles that have made a comeback thanks to Arcade Archives. Games like Double Dragon, Frogger, and Ninja Gaiden made their way into the classic collection by the company run by Japanese developer Hamster.

Super Punch-Out!! is up for grabs at the eShop for just $8.
