There are now a ton of new biomes to explore in the Nether after Minecraft’s Nether Update, and it has been made clear that developers want players to be able to live in the Nether. With that in mind, what is the best place to actually build a home and thrive in the Nether now?
Previously, the Nether was wholly inhospitable. The best thing players could find to eat was rotten flesh from Zombie Piglins, and players had no way of getting wood, stone, iron, gold, or diamonds needed to create even the most basic of tools in Minecraft. There was also lava everywhere.
And there still is lava everywhere, but now some of those other problems have been solved. When considering where to build a home in the Nether, players should consider the availability of resources, the relative safety of the area they choose, and the general aesthetic of the biome.
Warped Forest
With those factors in mind, it would seem that the Warped Forest is the best biome to build a home in, especially for beginner players. This biome checks off all of the points above, but the biggest factor is safety. Though hostile mobs do spawn here in the Warped Forest biome, there are far fewer than in other areas. There is also not nearly as much lava in the area, making it safer when compared to the rest of the Nether. That’s not all, though, as there are a lot of other great reasons to choose this area.
In terms of resources, the Warped Forest has two of the most important ones: wood and food. The odd, tree-like growths found here can in fact be harvested for a wood substitute, and wild Hoglins roam around which can provide the player with meat. Finally, it has the most welcoming aesthetic of any biome in the Nether, making it feel like a pocket of coziness in an otherwise hellish landscape. That isn’t to say that this place is a paradise, it is still very dangerous and can sometimes be quite creepy, but it certainly beats out the Crimson Forest biome where everything is either on fire, trying to kill the player, or both.
This biome was also suggested by Minecraft’s Sr. Gameplay Developer, Agnes Larsson, in a recent interview with Game Rant, mostly for the reasons above. Regardless of where players decide to make their Nether homes, they will need to be on their guard.
Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
