Earlier this month, Sony revealed the DualSense, which is the controller for its upcoming next-generation console, the PlayStation 5. However, unlike the PlayStation 5 itself, Sony surprised its massive fan-base by also revealing the design of the actual controller itself. Apart from its departure from the DualShock label, the DualSense contains tons of new features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well as a new design that sports a two-tone color scheme.

Ever since the reveal of the DualSense, many PlayStation fans have wondered whether the console will share a similar design with the controller, and several creative fans have since created concept images that imagined what the upcoming PS5 would look like. Now, for those who are interested to see a glimpse of what the PS5 could look like, here are some of the recent concept images that surfaced online ever since Sony unveiled the look of the DualSense controller.

Sleek PS5 Concept by Snoreyn via LetsGoDigital

Created by Snoreyn via LetsGoDigital, this concept design of the PlayStation 5 is heavily inspired by the appearance of the DualSense controller. The artist’s design comes in two versions showcasing either an all-black or all-white PlayStation 5. Similar to the DualSense controller, the console sports the light bar on top that goes all the way to the center of the console that completes a modern and sleek look for the PlayStation 5.

The front of the console concept bears a striking resemblance to that of the PlayStation 4 where the disc drive and a couple of USB ports are located. Of course, all other ports, such as HDMI, ethernet, and many others, are located at the back. Furthermore, the console is designed to stand both vertically and horizontally, similar to the PS4. Of course, while this image is just an unofficial concept, it is not impossible for the actual PS5 to look similar, given that this design is heavily influenced by the DualSense, which will be most likely to match the PlayStation 5.

Two-Tone PS5 Concept by Concept Creator via LetsGoDigital

This image was created by Concept Creator via LetsGoDigital and sports another sleek and modern design for the PlayStation 5. However, the highlight of this particular image is its two-tone color scheme, which is, of course, heavily influenced by the DualSense controller. There is an all-black version of this concept image, but the white and black two-tone color scheme is more eye-catching, especially since it perfectly matches the design of the DualSense. This concept also sports a ridge on the top of the console where the disc drive is housed, and the standard USB ports are located below it.

Additionally, this concept image also redesigned the DualSense controller a little bit, which now comes in a boxier frame. The artist also rendered an image of a Grand Theft Auto 6 disc to showcase how the disc drive would work. GTA 6 is rumored to release to the PlayStation 5 and other next-generation systems in the future. Nonetheless, similar to the previous image concept, this particular design by Concept Creator sports a minimalistic modern look that would make for a perfect centerpiece for any gaming and entertainment center.

Max Air Flow PS5 Concept by ruddi2020 via Reddit

Lastly, this concept design by Reddit user ruddi2020 is not particularly modeled after the DualSense controller. Nonetheless, the console still matches the controller, given that it also sports a black and white two-tone color scheme. However, the highlight of this concept is its efficiency, specifically its ergonomic design to ensure maximum airflow. In the Reddit post by the artist of this image, it has been indicated that this design is influenced by the PS5 dev kit concept image created by LetsGoDigital last year.

Unlike the previous two concept image, this one is bulkier than usual, given that it prioritizes the console’s cooling efficiency rather than a slim and minimalistic look. As of the moment, it is currently unclear when Sony will plan to showcase the actual design of the PS5. Unfortunately, a recent report by Bloomberg revealed that Sony may be rethinking its strategy for the PS5 and will reportedly scrap its initial plans for the console’s price point, release date, and reveal.

At the time of writing, Sony still hasn’t responded to Bloomberg’s report, and its last official statement is that the PlayStation 5 is still set to release this holiday season despite the production problems that most industries are facing at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, if Sony doesn’t reveal the PS5 soon, then it is expected that the company will make an announcement soon with regards to the status of its upcoming next-generation system.

The PlayStation 5 is set to release this holiday season.
