It won’t be too much longer before gamers looking forward to Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be able to get a feel for how the forthcoming action-RPG will play due to Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment holding an open beta this weekend. Of course, some are wondering whether or not the third-person shooter will be able to provide players with a solid amount of content to sustain itself both at launch and beyond.
With this being the case, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have now put out a brand new trailer detailing what players should expect out of The Division 2’s Year One DLC, with the footage highlighting new campaigns, specializations, game modes, and more endgame content to be added throughout 2019. Additionally, the publisher and developer have promised that all of the post-launch materials for Year One will be free and accessible to everyone who owns the base game.
Shortly after The Division 2 goes live, the game will receive a free update that adds Tidal Basin, which is a faction stronghold controlled by the enemy group known as The Black Tusk. After this, the title will receive the first eight-player raid in the franchise’s history known as Operation Dark Hours. Then, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment will put out three “Episodes”, which are content updates that provide additional narratives and missions, and new PvP and PvE modes. Plus, each Episode will add a fresh Agent specialization that has its own unique signature weapon.
Episode 1 is dubbed “D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions”, and it will be coming to The Division 2 at some point in Summer 2019. Autumn 2019 will see the release of Episode 2, which is called “Pentagon: The Last Castle”. A currently unnamed Episode 3 is set to become available during Winter 2019. According to the trailer, the third Episode will “close the first chapter of The Division 2’s story line, and pave the way for even more content to come.”
It’s definitely great to see The Division 2 already has a Year One roadmap in place for its post-launch content and that all of the materials will be free to those who choose to obtain the DLC. Those who wish to get even more benefits, though, can do so by purchasing the $40 Year One Pass.
The Division 2’s Year One Pass will grant instant access to endgame specializations and seven-day early access to all Year One episodes. Plus, it contains exclusive cosmetics, additional Bounties and Projects, and eight classified assignments that provide more story behind the events leading to the player character’s arrival in Washington D.C.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is scheduled to release on March 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
