In an effort to address criticisms of the original game, Massive Entertainment has made sure that there is plenty to do in The Division 2 after beating all the main story missions. A huge part of the endgame is about advancing through the world tiers, but some players may be confused about what world tiers are and how they can change their world tier.
To change world tier in The Division 2, players need to complete specific tasks that are integral to progressing through the endgame and preparing oneself for future content. Changing world tiers in The Division 2 isn’t always going to be an easy task, and so we recommend players tackle this challenge with a group of friends if possible.
1. World Tier 1
To advance to world tier 1 in The Division 2, there are some things players need to do first.
- Reach Level 30 - At launch, the level cap in The Division 2 is 30, with players able to continue improving their character through their gear score. Hitting the level 30 cap is required to advance to world tier 1, but luckily there are ways players can get to level 30 fast to speed the process along. Complete District Union Arena Stronghold Complete Roosevelt Island Stronghold Complete Capitol Building Stronghold Choose A Specialization
After beating the three Strongholds, The Division 2 players will technically hit world tier 1, but there is one thing left to do. They will need to visit the quartermaster at the White House and speak with him to pick a Specialization.
2. World Tier 2
After picking one of the three Specializations, players will then have to revisit story missions they’ve completed in the past, but play through “Invaded” version instead. Basically, story missions and Strongholds have been invaded by the new Black Tusk faction, and so the next step is to wipe them out.

3. World Tier 3
For world tier 3, The Division 2 players will want to keep improving their gear score and completing Invaded missions.

4. World Tier 4
World tier 4 is more of the same: improve gear score, complete Invaded missions.
- Complete Potomac Event Center (Invaded) Complete Federal Emergency Bunker (Invaded) Reach Gear Score 375 Complete Roosevelt Island Stronghold (Invaded)
5. World Tier 5
World tier 5 in The Division 2 isn’t available at the time of this writing. There are some bugs that Massive is looking to fix before adding world tier 5 and the Tidal Basin Stronghold to the game, and so players can’t technically reach it at this point. However, we do know some prerequisites players need to reach before they will be able to get world tier 5.
- Complete all Invaded Strongholds Reach Gear Score 425
The Division 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
