On the heels of Ubisoft’s announcement of a sale for The Division 2, players will also have a Free Weekend from June 13 to June 17 to try the game out before they buy. New players will have the opportunity to play The Division 2 free of charge on their choice of PC or consoles.
As the 40% off sale ends on June 24, players will have a chance to buy the game at a discounted price after the Free Weekend is over. Most important of all is that those who purchase the game will be able to keep the progressions they achieved during the free weekend.
For those who have not yet delved in, The Division 2 is an action-packed open-world online shooter RPG set in a world straight out of a doomsday novel. Seven months after a deadly virus was set loose in New York City, players take on the role of veteran Division agents who stand between the collapse of society and factions vying for control of Washington D.C. Losing the city means losing the nation, so fight hard!
The promotion comes at a good time for undecided gamers, as The Division 2 comes with critical praise. The sequel also contains various quality of life improvements over the first game. New content is released on a regular basis, as are bug fixes for issues that may arise. Recently, the game saw the release of a new Raid titled “Operation Dark Hours.”
There is currently a bit of controversy, however, regarding the difficulty of the raid between the PC and both of the consoles. PC players finished the raid in less than five hours and are now farming the content in less than thirty minutes. Meanwhile, the first console completion took over thirty hours to accomplish the same task, and many still struggle to complete the raid at all.
Since this issue has become known, Ubisoft has made it clear that there will not be any kind of difficulty tweaking to make console fights easier. If you were looking to get into The Division 2 and raiding is important for enjoying the endgame, you may want to seriously consider using the PC above the consoles.
Regardless, the free weekend is a fantastic opportunity for players to jump into the action if they have not already without committing to a purchase. As stated, buying the game later on will save all progress made, so there really is no downside to giving the game a go!
The Division 2 is available on PC at 33% off during the sale, and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at 40% off.
