Ubisoft announces the release date for the patch which will fix the game-breaking login bug from The Division, which has stopped many players in their tracks.
It was two long weeks ago that a massive bug in The Division started to prevent some players from being able to login to the game, and left Ubisoft Massive scrambling to find a fix. It’s not often that an error of this caliber affects so many players, and many agents of The Division were forced to put down their controllers while the studio sought out a fix for the game-breaking bug.
After several weeks of tracking down the origins of the bug, Ubisoft identified the root cause of the inventory error on March 31st and announced that a fix would be arriving shortly. Due to the nature of the problem, it turns out that the error can’t be patched by a quick hotfix, so players will have to wait until the next client update on April 12 for the login error to be patched away:
The news comes straight from Ubisoft Massive Community Agent Natchai Stappers, who posted this message on the community forums:
Most had thought - including Ubisoft Massive, initially - that the problem arose from simply using high end back packs. The studio had originally quizzed afflicted gamers about their use with high end gear, but now Ubisoft offers different advice for those looking to avoid the error prior to the fix: don’t attach modifications to unused weapons. Seeing as how doing so is one of the most popular space-saving tips in the game, it’s no surprise that so many agents encountered this bug.
We will be deploying a fix in update 1.1 on April 12 that should resolve instances of the infinite loading/backpack issue. Due to this fix requiring a client patch, we cannot deploy it at an earlier date. We thank you for your patience.
April will be a big month for The Division, even without considering the long-awaited bug fix. The game will be getting its first major update later this month, which will let gamers try out the title’s first raid (which are called Incursions). Entitled ‘Falcon Lost’, the incursion will require players to be equipped with Level 31 gear in order to even partake in the mission, which players can tackle in the usual difficulty options. Next month, Falcon Lost will be followed up by another incursion simply called ‘Conflict’, which will take place in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle, with that update simultaneously introducing new Dark Zone features into the fold.
What do you think about the game-breaking inventory bug, Ranters? Is 3 weeks an acceptable wait time for a fix?
Tom Clancy’s The Division is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
