It’s time to return to the forest in The Fabled Woods - an upcoming first-person narrative adventure from CyberPunch Studios, expected to launch for PC via Steam sometime later this year.

An announcement trailer was released along with the news, showing off a gorgeous-looking woodland setting, but with an overall ominous feeling that something bad has definitely taken place. The voiceover lines only add to that feeling, mentioning missing persons, bones, and someone being brutally ripped to shreds by something or someone.

The game will feature three intertwining narratives for players to experience, piecing everything together to make sense of what happened to someone’s son who went missing (presumably somewhere in the woods). One of the more unsettling aspects of the trailer notes that while there are no animals in the forest, there are bones. Lots of them.

While the content of The Fabled Woods is still a bit of a mystery, gameplay-wise, players can expect a puzzle-free and death-free playthrough, as the game draws much of its inspiration from other narrative adventures such as Firewatch, Gone Home, or What Remains of Edith Finch.

No release date has been revealed, but The Fabled Woods is tentatively slated for a Q4 2020 launch.
