Last weekend’s Digital Fan Festival came with a slew of Final Fantasy 14 announcements. Endwalker, the game’s tenth major expansion, will bring several new areas, new quests, new NPCs, and the new Reaper job class that channels the power of the void. Male Viera and female Hrothgar options were also confirmed to be on the horizon, although the female Hrothgar won’t be ready in time for Endwalker’s arrival.
Square Enix also announced two big collaborations at Fan Fest 2021, including one with legendary guitar manufacturer Fender to make both a real-life and in-game electric guitar for Final Fantasy 14.
Called the “Final Fantasy XIV Fender Stratocaster,” the limited-run guitar will feature “imitation crystal detailing,” purple and blue splotches on the shell, the FF14 logo on the neck, and the brand’s iconic name on the head.
Fender is a name well-known in music circles, so I’m sure the guitar will be quality. Pre-orders will open in late 2021 with shipping to start in early 2022.
But Fender isn’t just making this guitar in real life. Final Fantasy 14 players will be able to acquire this guitar in-game in the near future. The in-game version of the Stratocaster will have five different audio tones ranging from clean to heavily distorted, crunchy guitar, as well as pick slide and mute effects.
And if you don’t feel like actually playing the new guitar but you want to look like you could if you wanted, Square Enix is even adding a new indoor furnishing. You’ll be able to find the new Magitek Electric Guitar at the Manderville Gold Saucer soon.
Along with Fender, Square Enix also announced a collaboration with watch manufacturer Citizen. The two new Light and Darkness watches are “inspired by the Crystal of Light and Warriors of Darkness.” Pre-orders are open for both styles now and run until June 30.
