When it comes to 80s movies, one of the most beloved is easily The Goonies. The classic coming of age film is notable for its fantastic cast, along with its memorable scenes and dialogue. Now, decades after The Goonies first premiered in theaters, the film’s cast has reunited as part of Josh Gad’s YouTube series Reunited Apart.
To help entertain people during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart reunites celebrities through video calls so that everyone can still practice social distancing. This episode of Reunited Apart brings the cast of The Goonies back together, but it also includes special appearances by The Goonies executive producer Steven Spielberg, as well as Cyndi Lauper, who performed the hit song “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough.”
The Goonies fans can see the cast interact with each other and host Josh Gad throughout the episode. This of course includes an appearance by Josh Brolin, best known now for his role as Marvel Cinematic Universe supervillain Thanos.
The Goonies has had a profound impact on pop culture. Besides the film, a number of video games based on The Goonies have been released over the years. Most recently, a Goonies content was released for the LEGO Dimensions toys-to-life game, featuring a level based on the events of the film.
