Just like the holster that is available for Ellie’s larger weapons - such as the rifle, bow, and shotgun - a smaller holster is available to her for making handgun selections much less cumbersome and easier to manage - especially during the moments of the game that require a quick weapon switch rather than reloading. You just have to know where to look.

During Ellie’s journey to the hospital to confront Nora, she will be forced to make her way through a park in which she witnesses the hanging and disembowelment of a WLF member by the cult-like group known as the Scars. It’s the initial encounter with the group, which doesn’t exactly make a resounding first impression.

At any rate, after navigating her way safely through the park, Ellie will make her way through an apartment complex before heading out onto a fire escape. She’ll then have the option of jumping down to the street to continue her journey - BUT DON’T DO IT YET!

Instead, explore the fire escape and make your way to the far end at the corner of the building. There, you’ll find a two-paned window. Looking inside will reveal a decaying body on the floor. Smash the window and head inside.

Upon approaching the body, a considerably sad note detailing the end of the now deceased father-to-be can be read, before picking up the ammo and crafting resources scattered around him.

Players will also find the small weapon gun holster, which will allow Ellie to switch between her various handguns with far more ease than having to swap each one out by holding the Square Button.

Loot the rest of the apartment, then make your way back outside on the fire escape and jump down onto the street below to continue the trek to the hospital knowing you’re a little better off than you were before in terms of Ellie’s handgun quick-draw (without it requiring much effort at all).
