The Last of Us 2 developer Naughty Dog has released a new video detailing the upcoming sequel’s story in more depth. Amidst all the recent drama and nearly unavoidable leaks surrounding the game, fans can take heart knowing that this trailer is a safe place to learn more about it.

The Last of Us 2 was delayed several times, but will finally be releasing on June 19th if all goes to plan. The massive leak that spoiled the story for many is still making its way around the internet, but this new video shows some non-spoiler details about the story.

As a warning, especially spoiler sensitive players may consider this new official information spoilers, but for the most part, the information is nothing that hasn’t already been shown in trailers. Still, fans wishing to experience the full game for themselves with a fresh set of eyes should turn away now.

Director Neil Druckmann and Co-Director Anthony Newman talk in detail about the game’s story and the decisions they had to make while making it. Newman comments on a commonly held fear among fans that the sequel won’t live up to the original, saying that despite people always worrying that a sequel will “ruin” the original in some way, the concepts with Druckmann had come up with were too good to pass up. Other influential faces from Naughty Dog chime in as well, emphasizing that although the game is set in a horror genre type world, the core of the game is about relationships between characters.

The video does confirm that Ellie and Joel both live in Jackson with Tommy’s group, revealing officially that Joel is still a part of Ellie’s life at the start of the game. After an unspecified violent event, Ellie is sent on her quest for retribution. Apparently, the journey will lead Ellie and the player to Seattle, and will have tons of twists and turns along the way. Perhaps most importantly, Druckmann highlights that the game will pit players against a lot of philosophical questions about what is right and wrong, something the first game did very well.

Of course, in order to avoid trolls posting spoilers, the comments section of this video is disabled. That means that this is one place on the internet where fans of the franchise can go without fear of seeing spoilers (aside from what Druckmann and his team intend to show).

The Last of Us 2 releases June 19th exclusively for PS4.
