The Last Of Us Part 2 introduced a lot of new characters with personalities that are distinctly different from each other. Some of these characters have rare and unique talents that most characters that players have seen in the franchise so far do not share.
Although there are a lot of characters that make dumb decisions, a lot of the characters in TheLast Of Us Part 2 are skilled in both combat and brainpower, which shows throughout the different sequences in the game. The skills that these characters possess range from interrogation tactics to powers of manipulation, and fans loved seeing the intelligent aspects of these characters.
10 Mel
Mel shows intelligence in that she is able to detect dangerous situations and understand when Abby is putting them at risk unnecessarily. Mel acts as somewhat of the anchor in their group and can sense a dangerous situation much better than Abby or Owen.
Another intelligent aspect of Mel’s personality is that she has medical training, which means that she’s very dedicated to her craft and has learned a lot of different things about the human body and how to care for it.
9 Joel
Joel lets his guard down a lot in The Last Of Us Part 2 because he has been living in Jackson for years; however, there are still many moments that show he is an incredibly skilled hunter and post-apocalyptic Survivor.
Joel understands how to sneak into situations and taught Ellie most of what she knows about combat within The Last Of Us Part 1. although Joel is criticized for his naivety in The Last Of UsPart 2, he is still an incredibly intelligent survivor.
8 Maria
Maria doesn’t have too much prevalence within The Last Of Us Part 2; however, when she is on screen, she makes many good talking points and understands how to settle situations within Jackson.
A good example of this is when Maria stops the confrontation between Joel and Seth, who calls Ellie a slur, which shows that she understands how to run a community and talk through situations better than most characters in the game.
7 Yara
Yara may not be quite as skilled in combat as Lev is; however, she still possesses a lot of skill in other areas. Yara seems to be a very empathetic and smart young girl that can understand situations even if she’s not going through them.
This is seen when Yara helps Lev escape from the Seraphites because they won’t accept him for who he is. Overall, Yara shows an emotional maturity that is surprising for her age. This trait is something that most intelligent people share.
6 Ellie
Ellie makes many reckless decisions within The Last Of Us Part 2; however, she also has her intelligent moments, and even though they may be brutal, the way that she is able to get information out of characters seems to be effective. She tells one person to answer a question, and if it matches up with the second person’s answer, then she knows they’re telling the truth. Ellie kills much more than just a few zombies in Part 2, and she does so in a smart manner.
Ellie was taught a lot of what she knows by Joel and Tommy, who trained her in combat prior to the events of The Last Of Us Part 2. Ellie doesn’t seem to be quite as intelligent as in the first game, and this is probably due to how angry she is about Joel’s death, which causes her to make a few bad choices.
5 Dina
Dina acts as an anchor for Ellie, and she’s very similar to Mel in this way. There are many times within The Last Of Us Part 2 when Dina is the voice of reason, such as attempting to talk Ellie out of leaving to find Abby for a second time.
Dina understands when enough is enough, and this trait is unfortunately not present within a lot of the revenge-driven characters in The Last Of Us Part 2.
4 Tommy
Tommy has many tricks up his sleeve, and he is a skilled sniper that can shoot enemies from very far away. This trait is especially clear within The Last Of Us Part 2 during the sequence where Abby is trying to get close to Tommy when he is shooting at her.
Tommy also taught Ellie the interrogation trick where two people will give an answer, and if it matches up, then it is correct. Overall, Tommy has years of experience as a skilled survivor, and he has learned many tactics that help him survive in the post-apocalyptic world.
3 Abby
Abby is smarter than she may initially appear, and this is mostly due to the fact that she was trained by some of the best soldiers in Seattle. Not only is Abby skilled in combat, but she is also quick on her feet and can turn a bad situation into a good one.
Abby’s intelligence is evident when she is resourceful enough to track down Joel within The Last Of Us Part 2. Abby also has many other scenes where her intelligence shines, such as when she enters the theater and uses Tommy as bait for Ellie and emotional manipulation.
2 Isaac
Isaac seems to be a master manipulator, and this is clear in the way that he fights against the Seraphites. Isaac kills many Seraphites regardless of if they have done anything to deserve it, and his followers follow him blindly. This is seen when Yara is killed despite being a child.
Isaac wasn’t explored enough in The Last Of Us Part 2 to know all of his motivations, however, in general, it is clear that only such an intelligent manipulator would become the feared leader of a group as big as the one in Seattle.
1 Lev
Lev may only be a child; however, he has shown great intelligence and skill both through combat sequences and cutscenes. Lev also has an emotional maturity that is very impressive, much like his sister Yara. This emotional intelligence is seen when Lev convinces Abby not to kill Dina.
Lev also knows his way around all of Seattle and has many different tricks for navigating the streets that most other characters would never have thought of, such as using parkour to get around the different buildings. Overall, Lev is an incredibly intelligent child, and he is gifted in both combat and intelligence based on the way that he acts. The only unintelligent thing that Lev does during the game is going back to the Island to get his mother.
