The Last of Us Part II provided the gaming community with unforeseen controversy, as beloved characters were killed off and you were forced to play as characters who wronged you. But when one life leaves, another is reborn.
Lev was one of those characters players couldn’t help but want to protect. He may tag alongside a killing machine that offended many players, but he is just a young boy. Lev is no stranger to loss and loneliness. Also serving as representation for the transgender community, he is one of the top favorites of new characters in The Last of Us franchise. This means get ready for some fan art.
10 Face Of A Thousand Tales
This is a piece done by Caleb Alonzo Smith who makes art that looks entirely of oil paint, digitally. It’s a portrait of Lev himself in a more intense light. The shadows on one side of his face and his slightly tensed expressions give the image a sense of hurt and power.
In this close up viewers can take a look inside Lev’s world of hurt. A world full of monsters and revenge. Much like current reality yet so different at the same time.
9 Of The Trees And The Woods
Greenfinch here seems to have captured a still of Lev in his natural habitat. His family, his people live in cabins in the woods and use nature to their advantage while other civilizations rely on technology and buildings.
It’s nice to see Lev in an environment he’s used to. Where he’s able to showcase his strengths and abilities as well as feel safe.
8 Can I Give You Some Advice?
This was a small scene that may have went over peoples head but hits home for players who experience phobias or care for this relationships growth. Lev gives wise advice for coping with fear to someone older and stronger (in some ways).
It’s a scene that shows us Lev is, in many ways, fearless. Abby may be physically strong and able to make-do, but Lev has wisdom and tactfulness to offer that makes this duo stronger together.
7 Push Up Pay Off
The one thing people automatically go to when they think of Abby, apart from the first obvious one, is her muscles. Ya love ’em or hate ’em, but they are a stable of what makes Abby… Abby.
And it’s part of what makes her beside anyone else of a lesser build, a cute duo. But most especially beside Lev. It’s cute to imagine him training to be as strong as Abby as he grows older.
6 Okay Fine, We Can Get A Dog
Critter Of Habit shows the continuing bond Lev and Abby will grow as time goes on. It’s speculated that these two are meant to replace Joel and Ellie’s dynamic and become the new parent-figure teaches young and lost kid.
Whether to love or hate that potential plan, it’s good to see Lev and Abby’s story continue through fan art where the game left off. Abby was never someone who took orders, especially as kid so it’s natural for her to come into protecting a child she never planned to.
5 Silent Winds
Ester-Gal uses a beautiful style that looks like pencil crayon sketch and a Disney film all in one. There is a set tone in this image spoken for by the leaves frozen in the air, Abby’s back toward Lev, and Lev’s glance.
This frozen moment in time looks like the very beginning of realizing they have to trust each other because they both have no one else left. Abby had become angry at the life she was leading, taking everything into her own hands independently whereas Lev was becoming lost. Luckily Lev had someone to turn to the moment he had no one else.
4 Bubbly Boy
This is a very cute, quick doodle by Danya leaving Lev looking adorable and safe. The soft pastel color of the blueish-purple and delicate art style remind us that he is just a young boy.
Danya has also added bubbles and seaweed in the backdrop as well as making Lev hold a toy shark. This is reminiscent of when he and Yara joined Abby’s group in the aquarium.
3 Survivor
Valentinus Adrian does many portraits of well known characters in this fashion. They are snapshots of warriors and fighters. On his Art Station page there are others of Yara, Joel, and Ellie.
It’s as if an infamous photographer grabbed them in the middle of their grave adventure for a quick photo. Everything they are currently going through can be seen, as if it hasn’t ended just yet.
2 After School Lunch
I am A Nepine makes vibrant works that radiate life and emotions. This particular one shows the emotion of contentment, peace, or happiness. The sun is shining and the duo is relaxing for a bite to eat. No strong warrior-like faces, no dangerous environments, just lunch in the woods.
It’s important to also see the good in a situation and bask in what little moments there are to have. Abby and Lev do this here.
1 Misty Water-Colored Memories
Another bright piece of art from the same artist in the previous entry, this one gives off somber and sentimental vibes.
With Yara in the makeshift medical bay, it’s up to Abby to reassure Lev and keep him protected and hopeful.
