The Last Of Us Part 2 Players Collectively Clocked Up 200 Million Hours In 2020

PlayStation’s Wrap-Up has revealed how much time we collectively spent playing The Last of Us Part 2 in 2020.

PlayStation launched its Wrap-Up service for the second straight year earlier this week. Not only does the Wrap-Up allow you to find out which games you played most in 2020, but it also revealed some interesting tidbits regarding what games we played most overall. Unsurprisingly, a lot of us played The Last of Us Part 2 for a long time. 200 million hours altogether, in fact.

200 million hours equates to a little less than 23,000 years. So yeah, we played The Last of Us Part 2 a lot. Other collective stats revealed by PlayStation’s Wrap-Up include 834 million enemies collapsed in fear in Ghost of Tsushima, and players of MLB: The Show hit a total of 161 million home runs. Chances are that number will be even bigger this year as The Show gets set for release on Xbox.

While PlayStation doesn’t clarify that The Last of Us Part 2 was the most played game of 2020, it does make sense to shine a spotlight on it. The sequel became the most awarded game ever last month, racking up 274 awards and counting at the time of typing this. It could potentially add another GOTY award to that haul in April. TLOU 2 has received 11 nominations at this year’s DICE awards, including the coveted GOTY.

Chances are many of you will have perused your Wrap-Ups and been a little shocked, maybe even embarrassed. Fall Guys will have featured in plenty of people’s most-played even though it wasn’t released until August. That’s what makes TLOU 2’s 200 million hours even more impressive. The multi-award-winning game didn’t hit game store shelves until June.

The numbers might never be released, but it would be interesting to know how many hours people spent gaming on their PS4s and PS5s in 2020 compared to previous years. The video game industry underwent something of a boom last year thanks to pandemic-affected people in lockdown seeking out other avenues of entertainment. Mobile games were played more than ever before, and it’s likely the same applies to PlayStation games too.
