Ellie may be an excellent guitar player but she is also an experienced killer. After traveling with Joel, she learned the gruesome tactics of survival in a deadly world. Unlike Joel, Ellie is much more agile and fast on her feet. She knows how to deal with any threats that come her way.
She has a large arsenal of weaponry that is suitable for both combat and stealth encounters. Not only that, but Ellie is an expert at crafting gadgets from resources in the world. The once lighthearted jokester is now a killing machine.
10 Switchblade
Ellie’s switchblade is a small addition that improved the game drastically. It was annoying to craft shivs as Joel since they were essential for taking out clickers. The fragile shivs did not last long but they were incredibly important. The switchblade is a consistent weapon that never breaks. It, not only, kills clickers but it also serves as a getaway card from surprise infected attacks.
9 Stun Bomb
Enemies in The Last Of Us Part 2 are aggressive. They will flank Ellie and they are not afraid to run at her with a bat. They’ll also knock her off her feet with well-aimed shots. That’s why distractions are necessary in combat scenarios. The stun bomb will daze the enemy long enough for Ellie to get a hit in or run away. Bricks or bottles will do the same thing except without the crafting requirements. The stun bombs are most beneficial when it’s upgraded into a smoke bomb, which can blind multiple people at once.
8 Trap Mine
When an enemy is notified of Ellie’s position, she can place a trap mine on the floor. The fellow survivor will have a nice little surprise when he walks over to check out the situation. It’s also helpful for camping out in a building and guarding the only entrance. The trap mine is perfect for strategic players but the loud bang may mess up some stealth gameplay.
7 Revolver
The revolver is a powerful pistol but it also has many downfalls. It takes a long time to reload, which makes the faster reloading upgrade essential, and revolver ammo is sparse.
It does kill people fast but Ellie may not be using it often. The revolver is better reserved for those tougher enemies like shamblers or bigger humans with pickaxes.
6 Semi-Auto Pistol
Unlike the revolver, the semi-auto pistol is a much more accessible weapon. Bullets are easy to find and it has a speedy reload time. It may not be as powerful as the revolver but it has a faster rate of fire, it’s steadier and it’s easier to reload. This pistol is good for evasive maneuvers and quick getaways. Additionally, it can be silenced, which is helpful when Ellie is out of arrows.
5 Bolt-Action Rifle
The rifle is ideal for long-range combat and it works decently well for medium range. It can kill people in one or two shots and ammo is plentiful. The best upgrades for optimal performance are the scope and damage. The bolt rifle is good for carefully picking off enemies but it’s too clunky for quick-paced combat.
4 Molotov
The Molotov is one of the best and easiest ways to take out enemies. It will kill all the normal infected and severely damage the bigger ones. It’s also a great tool for exterminating a group of enemies and causing a distraction. The makeshift bottles are a surefire way to get out of sticky situations but sometimes they won’t take people out. Humans may put out the fire before it consumes them and infected may continue charging.
3 Silenced Submachine Gun
This is the only automatic gun in The Last of Us Part II and it’s only available towards the end of the game (except for in new game plus mode). It is a highly satisfying weapon to use because it’s a small glimpse of a fast-paced first-person shooter in an otherwise slower game. The gun is usually used in quick sessions because the weapon uses up ammo fast. It’s fun while it lasts but the player will definitely miss it while it’s gone.
2 Pump Shotgun
Shotguns in The Last Of Us are always satisfying to use. They kill enemies in one shot if they’re close enough. The pump shotgun can be Ellie’s savior in many situations.
It’s always a good idea to have the shotgun handy while Ellie is exploring tight corridors. A shotgun blast is a perfect recipe for those jump scares that Naughty Dog loves.
1 Bow
The bow is one of the best weapons for stealth. A clean headshot will kill people instantly and if Ellie is lucky enough then she can retrieve her used arrow. Sometimes, though, the bow can be difficult to aim so it requires some patience. The one thing that edges the bow ahead of the others is the explosive arrows upgrade. This makes it viable for both stealth and full-on combat. The explosive arrows will blow enemies to pieces and it is a disgusting sight to see.
