After recreating the Temple of Time from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time using Unreal Engine 4, YouTuber CryZENx recreates the Zora’s Domain and Death Mountain Crater levels.

When Epic Games released their Unreal Engine 4 to the public for free a year ago, there was excitement at what could be created using this technology. This proved to be a fantastic move, as a Legend of Zelda fan utilized the power of Unreal Engine 4 to create a gorgeous recreation of the iconic Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time. One YouTuber CryZENx also decided to try their hand at recreating parts of Ocarina of Time using Unreal Engine 4, and their results were equally stunning. After making a beautiful recreation of the Temple of Time, CryZENx recently released a couple their latest Ocarina of Time projects: a recreation of Zora’s Domain and Death Mountain Crater.

Retaining the animations, art style, and sounds from the original Nintendo 64 entry, CryZENx’s HD recreations of the icy-blue Zora’s Domain and the red-hot Death Mountain Crater levels are nothing short of spectacular. Featuring an adult Link in the Zora’s Domain level, and a child Link in the Death Mountain Crater level, each demo runs incredibly smoothly and demonstrates the considerable effort CryZENx put into this project.

Unfortunately, there’s no download link for the Zora’s Domain level, so gamers will have to settle for just the demo here. As for the Death Mountain Crater level, CryZENx has released a download link for gamers wanting to play the level themselves. For those wanting to check it out before downloading, they can do so via the video below.

The Legend of Zelda franchise isn’t the only Nintendo franchise CryZENx appears to be a fan of, given that they’ve also created a stunning Pokemon Unreal Engine 4 demo as well as a Kirby Unreal Engine 4 demo. Since these demos and levels are all just fan-recreations and are not official Nintendo products, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll see a proper release anytime soon, especially with the recent Metal Gear Solid remake cancellation debacle. Hopefully the work of CryZENx and many other developers can convince Nintendo to look into using Unreal Engine 4 for some of their future games.

But seeing as how Nintendo have yet to comment on CryZENx’s recreation, it appears that the company is cool with everything for now. Let’s hope Nintendo remain cool for the foreseeable future because based on the quality of CryZENx’s recent projects, it’ll be very interesting to see what they have in store for the future.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available for Nintendo 64, and the official remake is available for Nintendo 3DS.
