Supermassive Game’s Little Hope is the third installment in The Dark Pictures series. In the follow-up to Man of Medan, this game seems to raise the stakes with the intense choices it is asking you to make. On this go-around, you are in a group of five people trying to discover the secrets behind why they seem to be living past lives in a location known as Little Hope.
While the setting and atmosphere drive home the creepy narrative, the characters themselves are the main attraction. In many ways, this game relies on their personalities, which makes them relatable. Do you share their personality type? The MBTI® selections for each character below are based on a single playthrough, so your choices could lead to slightly different results. Also, some spoilers could be ahead, so beware if you have not yet played the game.
10 Anthony - ISFJ
Because of the time jumps in Little Hope, there are two to three iterations of different characters with slightly differing personalities. This one is about Anthony from the 1970s (who looks identical to Andrew). He shows up at the beginning of the game, and his choices seem to lend to an ISFJ personality type. Andrew seems to be the glue holding the family together. He watches after his brothers and sisters, takes over parenting duties while his parents do their own thing, and ultimately feels heartbroken at a tragic occurrence that he could not fix. ISFJs are protectors who can quickly tune into others’ emotions, and Andrew seems to have mastered this.
9 Andrew - INFP
As you move into the game, you encounter present-day Andrew. This guy does share many qualities with 70s Andrew. However, unlike the other iteration of this character, present-day Andrew is a lot more curious and naïve. He shows loyalty to the group and has many unique takes and solutions to the situation. Again, he is working to keep everyone on the same page and moving toward the same goal. These are pretty well-known traits for INFPs.
8 The Curator - ENTP
Wow, does this guy like to talk! He is the glue that holds the story together. The Curator is an entertaining, sociable, intelligent, and curious individual. He has met many people, seems to be non-judgmental, and enjoys having a good debate.
The Curator exhibits all the typical qualities of a person that is an ENTP. He is extroverted, intuitive, thinking, and incredibly perceptive. This is the guy you want to have a debate in the bar with.
7 John - ENTJ
Being theoretical is a huge part of John’s career as he is a professor. He takes this attribute and turns it into a leadership trait. When the group finds themselves stranded, John immediately steps up to become the leader. He is rational (at first), not excellent at showing his emotions, and has no problem deciding what should be done in a given situation. John is a natural leader, and his ENTJ personality allows for this.
6 Angela - ISTJ
Angela seems to embody many of the not-so-great traits from this personality type: judgmental, insensitive, and a tendency to blame others. Angela is used to having things in order and isn’t the best person to be around when that doesn’t happen. Nonetheless, Angela is very observant, detail-oriented, and even open to the possibility that something supernatural may be going on a Little Hope. If you want a logical person to bounce ideas off of, Angela is the person to choose.
5 Daniel - ENFP
Daniel is probably the kind of guy you would want to hang out with. He is charismatic, charming, handsome, and a generally likable person. His friends depend on his spontaneous physical prowess to save them in various dangerous situations throughout the game.
However, while Daniel is caring and a great communicator, he can let his emotions take over. His outburst and fears can create a tense and unsettling situation for everyone. He is the quintessential ENFP.
4 Taylor - ESTP
Considering her and Daniel’s “special relationship,” it makes sense that she would share a personality type that is complimentary to him. Taylor is typically the first to make her feelings known about the scary situation they are in. She is talkative, slightly impulsive, and wears her emotions on her sleeve. She is known to state the obvious and is pretty practical.
3 Mary - ESFP
It’s time to talk about the young lady of the hour. Mary is the 17th-century iteration of Meagan. She is partly responsible for manipulating the people in her town to think that certain residents are involved in witchcraft. Mary is highly intelligent, perceptive, and happy to communicate with others. She also knows how to put on a show to get what she wants. Ultimately, her efforts have fooled many, which shows her ability to relate to people, which is something ESFPs are great at.
2 Vince - ISTJ
Vince has experienced a major tragic event that has impacted his life forever. This has likely led to him taking on the traits of an ISTJ. Vince is no-nonsense and typically found to be by himself.
This situation lends credence to the fact that Vince is likely an introvert and is highly intuitive. Depending on how he is treated in the game, Vince can be empathetic or condemning. Either way, Vince is highly observant and detail-oriented, but he also tends to be insensitive and judgmental.
1 Carver - ENTJ
Bold, bombastic, and diabolical, Carver is the epitome of an ENTJ. He is an exceptional communicator, and he knows how to manipulate people to do his bidding. They are leaders at heart, but Carver doesn’t use his leadership qualities for good. He is aggressive, intolerant, and downright stubborn. He doesn’t care about what others think and only wants to push forward his will.
