Since releasing back in late January, The Medium has found a great deal of success within the gaming community. With inventive camera perspectives, interesting gameplay, and haunting atmosphere and music, there’s a lot for players to love about The Medium. Though, much like with any major release, some players have encountered some technical flaws with the game and the development team has since released a patch for the game that rectifies some of those issues.

Of the titles that have been released by Bloober Team so far, this game is definitely the studio’s most ambitious project to date. Being developed primarily for next-gen technology has allowed the development team to experiment wildly, but as is the case with projects as big as this one, there tend to be some accidental growing pains that slip through the cracks in the form of bugs and glitches.

Luckily, The Medium’s first official patch, Version 1.1, has dropped and includes quite a number of quality of life features. Here are the patch notes:

  • Performance optimizations across the whole game Eliminated gameplay bugs in various locations Eliminated known game crashes Eliminated game bugs reported by the community Graphical bug fixes across the whole game Improvements in camera operation and settings Scene lighting fixes in various locations Fixes for reported crash issues when loading saves Improvements in interactions with in-game events and characters across the whole game Raytracing optimizations across the whole game Game sound fixes

These numerous fixes made to the game will surely help future players as well as those who have encountered these issues before the release of the patch. While the game has received many accolades already, prompting Bloober Team to release an accolades trailer for The Medium, even the best games have room for improvement and The Medium is certainly no exception to this.

In any case, it’s nice to know that Bloober Team has remained responsive in terms of The Medium. With such a big title, it’s sometimes hard to manage all of the technical issues that manage to slip through the cracks. For some games, that’s more so the case, with games like Cyberpunk 2077 still having users actively finding and reporting bugs and crashes entire months after the game’s release.

It will be interesting to see what Bloober Team does in the future. The studio has certainly come a long way since the release of Layers of Fear and with The Medium serving as a beautiful example of what the studio is capable of, it’s fair to say that there’s a lot more to come. Although, it will probably take a while to get to that point, so unfortunately, fans of the game and the studio will just have to be patient.

The Medium is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
