The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most anticipated games next to Modern Warfare 3 and Uncharted 3 this holiday season. While Skyrim may not hit the sales numbers that either Uncharted or Modern Warfare sold, it’s still a significant and high caliber title worth checking out.

Skyrim is an important title for the gaming industry because it strays away from a trend that many developers have jumped on for the past few years, and that’s catering to the casual market. Dragon Age 2 is a good example of a game that was “streamlined” to cater to a more mainstream audience - a move that angered many fans of the original.

Even Modern Warfare 3 has a decreased campaign length (about 5 hours), which is less that the first two games in the series. Sure a lot of people are picking it up for the multiplayer, but many are also interested in the story of Soap and Price - and would prefer not to be rushed through the narrative.

The main point this song is trying to drive home is that gamers should put down their plastic musical instruments and pick up a sword. The message is just a tad bit late since gamers probably put down their plastic guitars a long time ago. However, its also encouraging those who might be intimidated by the scale of games like Skyrim to check them out anyway.

Of course, this title isn’t for everyone, some gamers might find the title’s immense world and near infinite quest possibilities to be a bit overwhelming. No doubt fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise already have their copies pre-ordered and are just itching to experience the story and combat for themselves.
